About Tam

I worked in various human service professions before earning my Master’s Degree. My experience includes case management, foster care, crisis counseling, and elder abuse investigation. I’ve also worked in a domestic violence shelter. These service roles provided a strong foundation for what I bring to my private practice.

I obtained my Master’s of Arts (MA) in Clinical Professional Psychology from Roosevelt University in 2007. After some time in the field, I recognized I wanted a greater understanding of health programming, so I pursued my Master of Public Health (MPH) at East Carolina University in 2010. My concentration was Health Behavior.

What can you expect in session?

All services are positive and affirmative! You are the expert on your experience. As your therapist, I work with you to identify your needs and strengths. I will always be assessing for clinical diagnoses and risk behaviors. All services are person-centered. No two experiences are the same. I use what you bring to session as well as my expertise and training to decide next steps in your treatment. Everyone who sees me for treatment receives education on what they are experiencing, whether it is panic attacks or codependency. Knowledge is power!

Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) Trait

What is it? Do you have it?

Dr. Elaine Aron describes HSPs as people with a naturally finely tuned nervous system. You notice more, feel more, and think more. This is not because you’re dramatic, but because your brain processes everything at a deeper level. That can look like being easily overstimulated, needing more downtime, picking up on subtle cues others miss, and having strong empathy or intuition.

In her words, it’s a normal, inherited trait found in about 15–20% of people. This means that basically there is a group whose brains run life through a “high‑resolution filter.” You experience the world more intensely, and that is okay!
